German beat group The Boots was founded around 1964 and scored some hits in Germany. Also, a few LPs were released on Telefunken. In 1968, after drastic changes in the line-up, Heinz Hoffman (dr), Rainer Bleck (b) and Uly Grün (o) went to the Netherlands to start a new Boots formation in The Hague together with Jack Eckhardt (v, later solo as Jacky Cornell) and Kid van Ettinger (g, ex-Incrowd, to Mailer McKenzie Band). In 1969, the German members left the group: Heinz returned to Germany, Rainer joined the group, while Rosa King and Uly departed for After Tea.
Jack Eckhardt put together a new line-up featuring ex-members of Groep 1850: Dean van Bergen (g), Ruud van Buuren (b, to Livin' Blues) and Beer Klaasse (dr, to Q'65).
